Volunteer Spotlight: Volunteer Appreciation Week April 21-27, 2024

The Literacy Council is celebrating Volunteer Appreciation Week April 21-27 this week by paying tribute to our 175+ wonderful long-time and new volunteers!

Having just completed celebrating our 60th Year Anniversary YOU are critical to our nonprofit’s ability to support over 10,000 adults in our Frederick County community who struggled with functional literacy skills.  Whether you are volunteering in the office, out in the community, or online your impact on our students is valuable. We have volunteers coordinating our programs, tutoring students weekly, teaching classes, providing leadership on our Board of Directors, training tutors, helping with community outreach, serving on one of our many committees, maintaining our computers, supporting our Scrabble Mania for Literacy fundraiser, writing grants, or any of the many other volunteer tasks. We couldn’t meet our community’s needs without you!

As we celebrate Volunteer Appreciation Week, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of our dedicated volunteers. Your unwavering commitment to our mission has a profound impact on the lives of those we serve.

Our literacy programs thrive because of your selfless contributions. Whether you’re tutoring, organizing events, or spreading awareness, your passion and generosity shine through. You are the heart and soul of our organization.

Thank you for being the driving force behind positive change. Your kindness, patience, and resilience inspire us all. Let’s continue to empower others through literacy, one word at a time.  With immense appreciation,
