Run for Literacy 5K

Run for Literacy is a virtual 5K supporting the Literacy Council of Frederick County. Walk, run, or jog at your own pace and location while helping adults gain literacy, English, and workforce skills that strengthen families and our community. Join our Strava Club, Run for Literacy, and share your run. Tag us on Facebook and Instagram and post your run picture. @literacycounciloffredco

Read-A-Book Day

Come hear excerpts from your favorite books and discover some new favorites at Read-A-Book Day at the Baker Park Bandshell on September 6th, 12 PM – 3:30 PM. We will have a FREE Children & Youth book distribution. A meet and greet with local and national authors including Melinda Beatty, Alexandra Sharp, Michelyve Petit, Cherish McMillia-Kilgoe, and featuring Jason Reynolds.  Remember to purchase books for autograph at Curious Iguana BEFORE the event. There will be no sales at event.  There will  be a Centro Hispano Spanish reading hour from 2:30 – 3:30 PM and artwork from Frederick County Public Schools on display.
