Stuff the Bus 2021 – July 6 through August 4

July 6 @ 9:00 am - August 4 @ 2:00 pm
  • This event has passed.

The Literacy Council is again participating as a collection site for the United Way’s Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive.  Stuff the Bus is a way for the community to come together to help young people succeed in school and is a way for the Literacy Council to support family literacy.  Here’s a short video about Stuff the Bus.

1 in 3 households in Frederick County struggle to afford basic necessities (http://www.unitedwayfrederick.org/ALICE), so they find it very difficult to afford needed school supplies.  This drive helps ensure that almost 7,000 children have the supplies they need to do their homework, take tests, and complete projects.  It is a simple but important way to help children succeed in school.

You may drop off your donation of new items at the Literacy Council office Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., beginning Tuesday, July 6, through Wednesday, August 4.  Since our office is still closed to the public, we have placed a bin in the entryway of the Patrick Street entrance to the library (the administrative entrance where our door is located.)  Use the double doors on Patrick Street.  Those doors will be unlocked between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.  Use this link to view the complete list of needed items.

You may also donate online through the virtual drive. For more information about Stuff the Bus and how to donate, visit https://www.unitedwayfrederick.org/StuffTheBus
