2012 In Love With Literacy Read-a-Thon
Join us for our second In Love With Literacy Read-a-Thon and help to promote and support literacy in Frederick County! The LCFC is hosting the Read-a-Thon in participation with Frederick County Public Libraries. Anyone of any age can participate in this fun and meaningful event.
This year, in addition to reading at the finale on February 11, you can participate whenever and wherever you want between January 1 and February 11. You can read for a certain number of hours or minutes during those weeks, or you can read whole books. In advance, you will request pledges from friends and family to sponsor your reading. The more you read, the more money you will raise. All the donations raised will be used to buy books and program materials for the students and volunteer tutors of the Council.
The ending celebration will be held throughout the day, from 10:30 - 4:00, in the C. Burr Artz Library Community Room. We will provide drinks and snacks for participants during the event. Prizes will be awarded in various categories such as most books read, most time spent reading, or most money raised. All pledges and monies collected must be turned in on or before February 11 for the participant to be considered for prizes. Prize winners will be announced that afternoon. All participants who raise at least $20 will receive a Read-a-Thon tote bag.
