The Literacy Council of Frederick County appreciates any donation level. There are many ways and reasons to donate.

Do you want to present a gift that is ever-lasting to a special person? Make a donation to the Literacy Council of Frederick County in your friend’s name.

A contribution to the Council as a memorial gift is a wonderful way to honor and remember someone.

You can make a general donation or specify how you would like your gift to be used. Here are just some of the ways your contribution can help.

• $100 covers expenses for training 10 new tutors.


• $200 covers a year’s subscription for a class of 10 of News For You, a weekly newspaper published specifically for adult learners. Each issue contains 7 timely high-interest low-level articles and definitions for key vocabulary. (There is also a teacher’s guide included that gives teaching suggestions and reproducible exercises.)


• $50 pays for a set of teaching materials for a tutor.
• $50 also pays for a set of books (Skill books and Workbooks) for a student.


• $42 covers a year’s subscription of News For You for an individual student.


• $16 pays for a month’s subscription of News For You for 10 students.


• $10 pays for one skill or workbook for one student.
