Literacy Council of Frederick County

About Us

The Council is more than 40 years old. The Church Women United founded us in 1963. While helping the area’s migratory farm workers, they discovered that not only could the migrant workers not read, but neither could many Frederick County residents. On average, we help over 100 adults annually. We are an all-volunteer organization that is sustained by community and individual donations.
